During the entire month of October, the state of Coahuila is host to this magnificent cultural event that brings together more than 2,000 artists of every discipline, arriving from all parts of the country and the world. The festival, organized by the Coahuila Institute of Culture (ICOCULT), presents artistic expressions like dance, theater, movies, literature, painting and poetry, among others.

This exciting event began in 2001 with the participation of the President of Mexico, Vincente Fox, the governors of Coahuila, Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon, and thousands of other prestigious riders. They ride 49 kilometers (30.5 miles) through different municipalities of these three states to preserve ancient traditions that make up Northeastern Mexico. Beginning in Hidalgo, Coahuila, it goes through Colombia, Nuevo León and culminates in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.

Passing through the cities surrounding Torreón, Gómez Palacio and Lerdo, this international scale, athletic event will take place Sunday, March 6, 2005. This contest, endorsed by the New York marathon, reaches an altitude of 1,123 m ASL (3,684 ft. ASL) and has temperatures between 5 and 20°C (41°F - 68°F). This year, the event will serve as a qualifier for the 2005 Marathon World Cup in Helsinki. .

This race takes place every year on the second Sunday of June. Running through the main streets of Saltillo and averaging 4,000 in number, runners from more than 20 countries all over the world participate. It is considered the best marathon in Mexico.

From May 4 - 7, the Laguna Region will be the setting of the largest and most inclusive golf tournament of the country. Six hundred amateur golfers from Mexico, the United States and Canada will simultaneously compete on the Campestre Torreón, Los Azulejos, Montebello and Campestre de Gómez Palacio golf courses.
