In Coahuila, the State plays a very important roll in education, considering it as the cornerstone to a healthy and prosperous economic development.

Public higher education in Coahuila is among the best in the country. Thousands of well prepared youngsters graduate from state universities every year. Between 2004-2005, 42,735 students graduated from higher education institutes. This amount of graduate students makes Coahuila Mexico’s first state in percentage of population with a college degree.

The State’s degree of involvement in education, since the early years of elementary school to the universities research centers is very high. A good example of the efficiency of State education is the elementary school English program, which is a model program throughout Mexico. Coahuila has the third place in Mexico in the average number of school years attended by its population which goes up to 10 years of education. On a university level, Coahuila has public universities with the best degree of preparation on a national scale, some times even on an international scale
